Scripture Verse #9

Good Evening Ladies! Today is May 1st. I hope it was a day we each lifted high the name of Jesus. O how I praise Him for His grace and mercy today.

1. What is your verse for the first half of May?
2. Why did you choose the one you did?
3. What is your favorite smell?

Love you! Let's endure and continue to hide God's Word in our hearts!

1. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

2. Thinking of Easter, living in the truth of the Resurrection every day-we have new life in Christ. So thankful for that.

3. Probably gardenia or any of those yummy Anthropologie candles.

"If anyone thinks himself to be religious and yet does not bridle his tongue, but decives his own heart, this man's relgion is worthless." James 1:26 NASB

Thank you for posting my verse.
Joy to you as you pour out yourself for Him this week.....

Adele's responses:
2. I am working on memorizing all of James 1, which I had done years ago, and managed to forget! This chapter is full of reminders that our faith will be tested and that we have a responsibility to DO the Word, not just hear it. Consquently, it is important for me to have all of these reminders hidden in my heart.

3. Opening a container of freshly ground coffee beans and being assaulted with the aroma.

1.Create in me a pure heart, O God,and renew a steadfast spirit within me.Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalm 51:10-12.

2.My fear, lately,is losing what I have found and have been allowed to feel. My greatest fear is the loss of His presence in my life.

3.Scented candles...especially the ones that smell like baked cookies.

Melissa, your verse is so near and dear to me right now. Hurting for precious friends in the midst of deep pain. Believing the Lord to give faith that they really are new creations! That is who they are!!!

I am such a smell person..from flowers to coffee to baked cookies. I can smell them in my mind. I love that the Lord allows us to enjoy the pleasure of smell. What a sweet gift from Him

Betty, I love what Melissa emailed this morning. We get to have relationship with the Lord forever. No one can snatch us from His hand. Glory! Love you so.

Adele, I am with you. Lord, enable us to speak only what would lift Your name high!

1. I am continuing on in Isaiah 55. Verses 12-13
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the LORD's renown, for an everlasting sign, which will not be destroyed.

2. Isaiah 55 has been a chapter the Lord has used to form and transform my heart and so I felt compelled to know Him more intimately by meditating on this portion for a couple of weeks. I am overwhelmed by His kindness to me..that He became a curse for me, taking on what I deserve and blessing me with an everlasting relationship with Him. O Lord, your mercies are wondrous! Lord, I sing to You with my heart and voice!

3. I love all the smells the three of you posted. I remember I had a cookies baking candle at Hume and it made me crave cookies! People would walk in the front door and ask if I had made some, only to be the bearer of bad news, that it was just a candle. I also love citrus smelling candles in the spring. Fresh and crisp. This is so much fun to get to know you this way.

If you haven't shared yet, we look forward to hearing how you are and what invigorates your nostrils!

Love you Ladies!

Good Morning Friends,
Galations 5 22-25
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, pace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceite, provoking and envying each other.

I chose this verse because I want to deeply inbed it in my heart.

Favorite smell: It's a big toss up this time of year. I love SWEET PEAS and I love the fragrance of Lemon and orange blossoms.

hugs and blessings viv

1. "Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:1-2

2. I chose this verse in the middle of our Hume Staff Retreat two weeks ago when it was spoken as part of the message. It is one of those verses that is always fuzzy in my mind and that I cannot recall, but definitely want to! It is also a good reminder to me to worship God with all of me, and that it takes daily renewing my mind with His Word and time with Him.

3. I love a lot of smells, and they are one of the most powerful triggers of memories for me. At the top of the list are the smell of warm fir trees (the common smell of the California mountains, perhaps often thought of as the smell of pine, but living at Hume I've learned that it is the fir trees that produce the wonderful smell...the smell of my favorite childhood memories at Dinkey Creek above Shaver Lake!), the smell of Sweetpeas in spring and the smell of my children, particularly the smell of their little heads when they have just woken up.

I'm late again! But checking in nevertheless....

My verse is from Psalm 27:13-14

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

I chose this verse honestly because I could not handle finding my own so this time around I went with Beth's choice on the LPM blog. I'm having a difficult time with memorizing this year. Difficult time with getting into the word also. Just being honest. But....I find that my heart desires to still meditate (not really memorizing right now) and focus on the Lord. I know that with some heavy, heavy stuff that I'm sorting through and dealing with that I need the Word. I may not "feel" the benefits of it but like I typically don't feel the benefits of working out I still do so because it is good for me. Same with scripture memory right now.

I love lots of smells! Cookies baking, fresh cut flowers, candles (or in my home, scentsy wax b/c I am notorious for leaving candles burning and forgetting about them!), coffee, etc....If I had to choose a favorite scent though I'd have to say Lemon :) It makes me happy because it is sweet, clean, crisp, and sunny to me.

My verse is Nahum 1:7

"The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in them."

I chose this scripture because I like how He is referred to as a stronghold. I have been enduring many things recently where the strength of our imperfect human minds and body's fail in comparison to the strength we can draw from God when we hand our lives over to Him. It is comforting that He knows who takes refuge in Him and he is forever there for those who trust Him to lead the way.

I love the smell of anything strawberry, french vanilla candles, honeysuckle flowers, muffins or cupcakes or other baked goods baking in the oven, and the smell of pine in the house at Christmas from the Christmas tree.
